Why e-invoices don't open like normal PDFs
A European e-invoice is structured XML data defined by the standard EN 16931. Accounting software reads it automatically, but people can't. An XRechnung is plain XML. A ZUGFeRD or Factur-X invoice is a PDF with the XML hidden inside as an attachment – and the XML is what counts.
This tool reads the XML and shows every detail with English labels: invoice number and dates, seller and buyer, all lines, VAT, totals, bank details and attachments. Use “Save as PDF / Print” to keep a readable copy.
Useful for international suppliers and freelancers
Since 2025 German businesses must be able to receive e-invoices, and they increasingly send and request them. If you work with German companies from abroad, you will meet XRechnung and ZUGFeRD files. This viewer lets you read them without German accounting software. For Peppol invoices from Belgium, the Netherlands, Scandinavia or elsewhere, see thePeppol invoice viewer.
